Berkeley Area Neighborhoods:
Kensington and North Berkeley Hills
94707 and 94708
Kensington is an
unincorporated area of Contra Costa County that borders Alameda County .
It's an intimate community with small town feel and
big city sophistication and high real estate values in the hills above El Cerrito and north of
Berkeley. Public transportation along Arlington Avenue, the main drag
through this area code, gets you where you want to go. Neighborhoods are welcoming, the eateries are fun and first-rate,
and kids have lots of places to play. It’s suburban living in an urban
environment with a view, and the best-kept secret in the East Bay!
The North Berkeley Hills share many of Kensington's features, with
sales of homes
that vary from mansions to Arts and Crafts bungalows. This
neighborhood is closer to U.C. Berkeley. Who needs shopping malls when,
in the area that borders Albany,
there are homes close to Solano Avenue with easy access to the stores, shops,
and restaurants there. Higher in the hills, convenience plays second
fiddle to the beautiful views, but public transportation is available.
From many homes in these zip code, you'll enjoy
waking up in the morning so close to
Peets Coffee & Tea you can almost smell the roasting beans.
La Farine Bakery will satisfy your sweet tooth and
King Park helps you work off those calories when you use the swimming
pool, the 1/4 mile track, or enjoy a game of tennis. The kids will love the
multi-age playground.
Triple Rock Brewery is a great place to hang out and enjoy a delicious
beer or ale. Plus you'll also have your choice of all the wonderful
Solano Avenue shops and restaurants to frequent car-free,
Get your Groceries at
Safeway, and one of the best burgers in Berkeley at
Barney's Gourmet Hamburgers. One of the local schools is
Thousand Oaks Elementary.
